P&O North Sea Ferries' fleet includes 17 ships which covers freight and passenger routes covering the ports of Rotterdam in Holland, Zeebrugge in Belgium and Felixstowe, Teesport and Hull in the UK
P and O North Sea Ferries try to make their passenger service reputation as good as possible. They try and do this from the time you make your booking to the moment you drive your car off the ferry. This isn't only the words of P&O themselves, it is also the opinion of the readers of the Observer and the Guardian, who have recently voted P&O North Sea Ferries the 'Best Ferry Company' for the sixth time in the past seven years. Further awards have been the 'Frontier Award for Best Marine Retailer' and for the restaurants the environment and food have won the 'Heartbeat Award'.
The Fleet consists of four ships with a fifth ship under construction. The Pride of Rotterdam and the Pride of Hull serve the route to Rotterdam. According to P&O North Sea Ferries, the Pride of Rotterdam is the largest and most luxurious Cruising Ferry in the world at 60,600 tonnes. The Pride of Hull is the newest addition to the fleet. It replaced the Norsea in December 2001.
The Norsea was moved onto the Zeebrugge service after an extensive refit early in 2002. It replaced the Norland and joined the Norsun in increasing the capacity and substantially modernising the standards of the Zeebrugge service offered by P and O North Sea Ferries.
The Norstar and the Norland contain a décor of polished brass and soft pastel, which regular passengers have said is reminiscent of the more understated style of yesteryear. The Norsea and the Norsun boast of offering the brightest and the best night out possible at sea. The Pride of Rotterdam and the Pride of Hull aimed to offer new standards in passenger service, accommodation and comfort.
All of the P&O North Sea Ferries offer entertainment for everyone. Starting with the very young children, they have their own playroom to have fun in. The teens can go straight to the Video Arcade or the Cyber Zone. Older children and adults can enjoy the cinema or, for those of you that like dancing, there is the Sunset Show Lounge. There is also a Casino for those who feel lucky.
The two main routes between the UK and mainland Europe are the Hull to Rotterdam route and also the Felixstowe to Zeebrugge route.
Just by way of useful information, during an overnight crossing, at 2am, the clocks on board the ships are set to the destination's local time. Therefore, in early morning when you are told the time, it will be the local time of where you are travelling to.
